Returning to the ship

Kahului Harbor is located on the north coast of Maui and is the maritime gateway to the island, with cruise ships usually docking directly at Pier 1 or Pier 2 in close proximity to the city center. Thanks to its central location, travelers can reach the most important sights and the island's airport within a few minutes.

Airplane

Kahului Airport (OGG) is located only five kilometers from the harbor and is served from the DACH region via US hubs such as San Francisco (SFO), Los Angeles (LAX), or Seattle (SEA). The journey to the terminal takes only about ten minutes by taxi, shuttle, or rental car, which allows for a particularly comfortable arrival.

Transfer & Rental Car

For maximum flexibility on Maui, many guests use rental cars, whose stations are located directly at OGG airport and often offer practical shuttle connections to the harbor. Alternatively, numerous taxis and ride-sharing services are available at the airport as well as at the piers, guaranteeing an uncomplicated trip via Kaahumanu Avenue (Hwy 32) and the Hana Highway (Hwy 36).

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the significant time difference and the long flight duration from Europe, we recommend arriving at least two days before embarkation. Hotels in Kahului or in nearby Wailuku offer an ideal base for arriving relaxed and organizing the first exploration of the island as well as the check-in at the pier without time pressure.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the harbor accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The same applies during the trip: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and the notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
