Returning to the ship

The port of Funchal is a central hub for Atlantic cruises and is primarily accessed by guests from the DACH region by plane due to its island location. The modern Gare Marítima da Madeira terminal is located directly on the harbor bay and is only a short walk or a short drive from the historical city center.

Airplane

Madeira Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport (FNC) is located about 20 kilometers east of Funchal and is served directly by numerous airports in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The flight duration is approximately four to five hours, with the approach over the coast already offering impressive views of the island and the harbor.

Transfer & Taxi

From the airport, you can easily reach the cruise terminal in about 20 to 25 minutes via the VR1 expressway. In addition to the official transfer services of the cruise lines, taxis are available at the airport at all times, and the Aerobus provides a regular and cost-effective connection between the arrival terminal and Funchal city center in the immediate vicinity of the harbor.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the specific wind conditions on Madeira and the attractive location of the island's capital, we recommend arriving at least one day before embarkation. Many hotels in the hotel zone located west of the harbor offer an ideal starting point and are optimally connected to the terminal by short taxi rides or, in some cases, even within walking distance.
