Returning to the ship

Dubai has two world-class cruise ports, the traditional Port Rashid (Mina Rashid) and the modern Dubai Harbour, both of which are excellently connected to the metropolis's infrastructure thanks to their central location. Due to the distance, travel from the DACH region is typically by plane and can be ideally combined with a stay in the city.

Airplane

Dubai International Airport (DXB) is the primary hub and is located only 15 kilometers from the terminal in Mina Rashid, which means a transfer time of about 20 minutes. Travelers from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland benefit from numerous daily direct connections from Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, or Vienna. Alternatively, Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) is used particularly by charter flights and is located about 60 kilometers south of the ports.

Transfer & Taxi

Onward travel from the airport to the terminals is extremely comfortable thanks to the high availability of licensed taxis and ride-sharing services such as Uber or Careem. For the trip to Dubai Harbour, guests use the Sheikh Zayed Road (E11) and reach the terminal in about 35 minutes, while Port Rashid is accessed directly via Al Khaleej Road (D92). In addition, many cruise lines offer organized shuttle buses that meet guests directly at the airport's arrival terminal.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Because of flight times and to avoid time pressure, arriving at least one day before embarkation is highly recommended. Hotels in the Bur Dubai or Deira areas offer a short distance to Port Rashid, while accommodations in Dubai Marina or on Palm Jumeirah form the perfect starting point for departures from Dubai Harbour. Many hotels also assist their guests with the organization of private transfers to the ship, enabling a relaxed start to the cruise.

Getting around

The port of Dubai offers excellent connections to the metropolis's impressive sights thanks to its modern terminals, such as Mina Rashid. The first-class infrastructure allows for a comfortable and quick onward journey directly from the ship.

Taxi

Official taxis from the Dubai Taxi Corporation are available in large numbers directly outside the cruise terminal exits. Thanks to the air-conditioned vehicles and fair, meter-based prices, you can reach destinations like the Burj Khalifa or the Dubai Mall quickly and comfortably.

Shuttle Buses

Many of the large shopping centers and outlets provide free shuttle buses that pick up guests directly at the port. In addition, cruise lines offer regular transfers that conveniently take you to various parts of the city or central transfer points.

Metro and Abra Water Taxis

A short transfer will take you to the nearby metro station, from where you can explore the city without getting stuck in traffic thanks to the modern rail network. For the route across Dubai Creek, traditional Abra water taxis are also available, providing a charming and direct connection between the historic districts of Bur Dubai and Deira.

Highlights & Districts

It is best to combine the architectural wonders of modernity with the historical charm of the old town to experience the fascinating contrasts of Dubai at its best in a single day.

Downtown Dubai & Burj Khalifa

Here you can marvel at the tallest building in the world and the dancing fountains right next to the Dubai Mall, which are quickly reached from the port thanks to their central location. This district is perfect for spectacular photos and exclusive shopping experiences under the radiant sun of the Emirates.

Al Fahidi & Dubai Creek

Immerse yourself in the historical heart of the city and explore the traditional wind towers as well as the lively gold and spice souks on the banks of the Creek. A ride on a traditional abra is also an ideal opportunity to admire old Dubai from the water while discovering its cultural heritage.

Jumeirah Beach & Burj Al Arab

The fine-sandy stretch of coastline offers a first-class view of the sail-shaped luxury hotel and invites you to a relaxed stay at the beach thanks to its clear water. This area is ideal for sun worshippers and can be perfectly integrated into your shore excursion due to its good accessibility.

Useful tips

Kite Beach

The spacious Kite Beach is easily accessible from the port in about twenty to thirty minutes by taxi and offers one of the most impressive views of the world-famous Burj Al Arab. This vibrant stretch of coastline impresses with its fine, light sand and excellent infrastructure with modern showers and changing rooms; you will also find a diverse selection of high-quality cafés and first-class food trucks such as the well-known "Salt". Thanks to the well-kept promenade and the inviting atmosphere, the beach is perfect for a relaxing morning on the turquoise-blue Persian Gulf. Ideally, plan your visit for the early morning hours to enjoy the quiet atmosphere, and for the return journey to the ship, allow two hours to be on the safe side due to urban traffic, so that you are back on board on time and relaxed.

Returning to the ship

Returning to the modern cruise port in Dubai is relaxed and safe at any time thanks to the excellent infrastructure and reliable means of transport. Due to heavy traffic in the late afternoon, plan for a sufficient time buffer to be on board punctually before departure.

Taxi and Rideshare Services

Official taxis are easily recognizable by their beige paint and are available at designated stands at all major sights such as the Dubai Mall or the Burj Khalifa. You can also conveniently call a vehicle directly to your location using apps like Careem or Uber and be comfortably taken to Port Rashid or Dubai Harbour. Simply give the driver the name of your ship and the terminal number, and you will be dropped off directly in front of the entrance.

Mall Shuttle Buses

Large shopping centers such as the Burjuman Centre or the Mercato Mall often offer free shuttle services for cruise guests, enabling an easy return journey to the port area. These buses run regularly between the marked stops at the malls and the cruise terminals in Port Rashid. Thanks to these well-organized connections, you can get back to the ship without any detours and enjoy the view of the city's impressive architecture during the ride.

Metro and Connecting Transport

Using the ultra-modern Dubai Metro is a fast option thanks to the Al Ghubaiba or Al Jafiliya stations and offers a stress-free connection from various parts of the city. Since the port area is very extensive and not directly accessible for pedestrians, simply take a taxi from the metro station for the last short distance to the terminal. This combination is particularly efficient and brings you safely through the guarded port gates directly to your ship's check-in area.
