Schweich an der Mosel is a picturesque starting point for river cruises and, thanks to its good connections from the DACH region, is easily accessible by car, train, or plane. The ships dock at a pier not far from the city center.

Car

Schweich is excellently connected to the German motorway network thanks to the A1 federal motorway, which crosses the Moselle here via the Moseltal Bridge, and the A602 (connection to Trier). For travelers coming from Luxembourg, the B53 is a direct connection. Parking is available in Schweich, for example at the railway station, but there are no specific large "Park & Cruise" providers directly at the river pier. It is recommended to check directly with the cruise line or local providers for long-term parking in advance.

Train

Schweich (DB) station is located on the Trier–Koblenz railway line and is easily accessible. From the station, the ship pier, located near the ferry tower (Fährturm) in the manageable town of Schweich, can be easily reached by taxi or a short walk. Trier main station, a larger hub, is only about 10 kilometers away and offers further connections.

Airplane

For arrival by plane, Luxembourg Airport (LUX) and Frankfurt-Hahn Airport (HHN) are the closest options. Luxembourg Airport (LUX) is around 44 kilometers away, from where there is a bus connection to Schweich with a travel time of about 49 minutes. Frankfurt-Hahn Airport (HHN) is about 40 kilometers away and can be reached by taxi in about 51 minutes. The larger Frankfurt am Main Airport (FRA) is about 215 kilometers away and can be reached by train via Koblenz in approximately 2 hours and 38 minutes. Private airport transfers can also be booked to reach the ship comfortably.

The historic city of Trier, with its imposing Roman city gate Porta Nigra, is easily accessible from the pier in Schweich in about fifteen minutes by taxi or shuttle and offers fascinating insights into Germany's oldest city. Thanks to the compact arrangement of the sights, the ancient landmark and the picturesque Hauptmarkt can be perfectly explored during a leisurely stroll, while charming cafes and wine taverns on the edge of the market square invite you to enjoy regional specialties. Ideally, visit the Porta Nigra directly in the morning to admire the impressive architecture in peace and also have enough time for a relaxed stroll through the pedestrian zone. It is best to plan your return trip to Schweich at least sixty minutes before the ship's departure to end the excursion in a relaxed manner on board.

Returning to the ship

The return journey from the historic treasures of Trier to the pier in Schweich is straightforward and safe to arrange, thanks to the excellent connections to the transport network. Plan a time buffer of about 20 minutes for the short trip from the city back to the ship.

Taxi

You will find taxis in Trier at central stands such as the Porta Nigra, the main train station, and at the Hauptmarkt directly in front of the Hotel Porta Nigra. The drivers will take you comfortably via the motorway or the country road directly to the harbor basin in Schweich and are well-acquainted with the mooring points on the banks of the Moselle.

Train and Bus
