Returning to the ship

The Port of Palma de Mallorca is one of the most significant cruise hubs in the Mediterranean and is easily accessible thanks to the Balearic island's excellent infrastructure. The extensive terminals of Estación Marítima and Dique del Oeste are located west of the city center and are ideally connected to the transportation network.

Airplane

Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) is located only about 12 kilometers from the port and is served directly several times a day by almost all major airports in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Thanks to the short flight time of around two to three hours and the direct Ma-19 highway connection, travelers often reach the ship shortly after landing.

Transfer & Taxi

From the airport, you can comfortably reach the various berths of the port in about 15 to 20 minutes by taxi. In addition, the A1 bus line offers a regular connection from the airport via the city center directly to the port area, while organized transfers from the cruise lines ensure a seamless transition from the luggage belt to the terminal.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the high frequency of flights and the attractiveness of the island's capital, arriving a day early with an overnight stay in one of the numerous hotels near the port or in the old town is often recommended. This offers the advantage of a relaxed start to your vacation without time pressure and also allows for a visit to the famous La Seu Cathedral, which is located within sight of the cruise ships.

Public Buses (EMT)

The blue public buses operated by the transport company EMT stop directly at the cruise terminals and take you to Plaza de España or the Cathedral at short intervals. Line 1 is specifically designed for the connection between the port and the city center, providing a cost-effective and direct transport option for all visitors.

Taxi

Numerous official taxis wait for passengers immediately outside the terminal exits. A ride to the Cathedral or the historic old town takes about 10 to 15 minutes and provides a comfortable transfer directly to the gates of the most important sights.

On Foot via the Paseo Marítimo

The path to the center leads along the picturesque Paseo Marítimo waterfront promenade and offers a wonderful view of the yachts and the sea during the approximately 45 to 60-minute walk. This route is ideal for travelers who want to discover Palma at their own pace and enjoy the Mediterranean atmosphere directly from the ship.

Highlights & Districts

Take advantage of the short distances in the island capital and combine a visit to the Gothic treasures with spectacular panoramic views and a relaxed stay by the coast.

Old Town & La Seu Cathedral

The majestic cathedral towers directly over the harbor and is the perfect starting point for a stroll through the charming alleys and the stately inner courtyards of the historic old town.

Castell de Bellver

This extraordinary circular fortress, thanks to its location on a wooded hill, offers an incomparable view of the deep blue Mediterranean Sea and the luxury yachts in the harbor, and is also easily accessible.

Playa de Palma

The extensive, golden-yellow sandy beach stretches along the glittering bay and, thanks to its excellent connections, is ideal for a refreshing dip in the Mediterranean or a walk along the lively promenade.

Useful tips

La Seu Cathedral and the Historic Old Town District

The imposing landmark of Palma, La Seu Cathedral, is easily accessible from the cruise port in about ten minutes by taxi or shuttle bus and offers a fascinating combination of Gothic architecture and the impressive light displays of its massive stained-glass rose windows. In the adjacent alleys of the old town, you will also find first-class cafés and excellent tapas bars, which are ideal for a relaxed break amidst historic architecture. It is best to visit the cathedral right at opening time in the morning to enjoy the special atmosphere before the larger crowds arrive, and plan your return trip to the port for the early afternoon.

Returning to the ship

The way back to the port of Palma de Mallorca is very comfortable thanks to the excellent transport connections and ensures a stress-free conclusion to your excursion.

Taxi

Numerous taxi ranks can be found at central hubs such as Plaça de la Reina directly below the Cathedral and at Plaça d’Espanya. Thanks to constant availability at these squares and in front of the city's major hotels, you can reach the terminals at Dique del Oeste within a few minutes by the most direct route.

Public Bus and Shuttle Service

The EMT bus line 1 runs regularly between the city center and the port, offering an affordable option for the return journey directly to the port entrance. In addition, many cruise lines provide their own shuttle buses, which depart from Parc de la Mar below the Cathedral and bring you back to the ship comfortably and on time.

On Foot via the Paseo Marítimo

A walk along the wide waterfront promenade, Paseo Marítimo, leads you safely and with good signage back toward the docking berths. Enjoy the view of the yachts and plan about 45 to 60 minutes for the walk from the Cathedral to the more distant terminals to be back on board relaxed and on time.
