Port information & tips for Fukuoka
Fukuoka is the vibrant gateway to the Japanese island of Kyushu, fascinatingly blending centuries-old traditions with a modern, urban lifestyle. The city impresses with its attractive coastal location and offers a particularly welcoming atmosphere thanks to its famous street food culture at the Yatai stalls as well as expansive parklands. Nearby highlights include the historic Kushida Shrine and the architecturally impressive Canal City Hakata, which also serves as a massive entertainment center. Cruise ships dock at the Hakata Port International Terminal at Chuo Wharf, which is only two kilometers from the city center and provides convenient access to the lively districts of Tenjin and Hakata via short bus rides or taxi connections.

Many high-quality hotels in the Tenjin or Hakata districts offer ideal accommodation and are located within direct reach of the terminals, allowing you to enjoy short transfer routes after a relaxed breakfast on embarkation day.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is generally scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The following also applies during the trip: For shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
