Returning to the ship

Arica, Chile's northernmost cruise port, is an important port of call on the Pacific coast of South America and offers convenient accessibility thanks to its central location and good connections. Given the long journey from the DACH region, it is always recommended to arrive at least one day before embarkation.

Airplane

The nearest airport is Aeropuerto Internacional Chacalluta (ARI) in Arica, around 16.7 kilometers from the cruise port. Direct flight connections from the DACH region do not usually exist; travel usually takes place with a layover in major cities such as Santiago de Chile. Due to the long flight time and the time difference, plan to arrive the day before in order to start your cruise relaxed.

Transfer & Shuttle

From Chacalluta Airport (ARI) you can easily reach the cruise terminal by taxi or shuttle. Taxi shuttles run every 30 minutes, for example, and cost about 8 US dollars with a travel time of around 17 minutes. In addition, private transfers can be booked, which enable a faster and more comfortable ride for about 12 to 18 US dollars. Plenty of taxis are also available directly at the cruise pier for the trip into the city.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

An overnight stay in a pre-cruise hotel in Arica is recommended given the long journey from Germany, Austria, or Switzerland in order to start your vacation relaxed. Many hotels in the city or near the airport offer transfer services to and from the airport, so you can get to the ship stress-free. From centrally located hotels, you can often even reach the port on foot in 10-15 minutes thanks to its proximity to the city center.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The same applies during the cruise: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as berthing and departure times can change at short notice.
