Port information & tips for Lisbon

Lisbon, the fascinating "City of Seven Hills," welcomes travelers as one of the oldest metropolises in Europe, located directly on the glittering mouth of the Tagus. The spectacular arrival passing under the 25 de Abril Bridge offers an unforgettable panorama and promises a maritime experience full of history and Mediterranean joie de vivre. In close proximity to the port, the winding Alfama old town district, the majestic Castelo de São Jorge, and the magnificent Praça do Comércio with its imposing architecture beckon. Cruise ships dock at the award-winning Terminal de Cruzeiros de Lisboa, which, thanks to its central location, is just a few minutes' walk from the historic city center while simultaneously offering perfect connections to all the highlights of the Portuguese capital.

The Port of Lisbon impresses with its prime location directly on the Tagus and offers first-class infrastructure in the heart of the city with the modern Terminal de Cruzeiros de Lisboa. Thanks to its central location directly below the historic Alfama district, guests can reach their ship quickly while enjoying a spectacular view of the city during arrival and departure.

Airplane

The international Lisbon Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) is located just 7 kilometers from the cruise terminal and is regularly served by direct flights from all major airports in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Due to the short distance, the onward journey to the port is extremely convenient and takes about 15 to 20 minutes by taxi or a ride-sharing service like Uber, depending on traffic.

Train

For travelers arriving from other regions of Portugal or neighboring Spain, Santa Apolónia station is the most important arrival point. Since this terminus station is located directly opposite the modern cruise terminal, embarkation is particularly straightforward after a short walk or a minimal taxi ride.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the diverse cultural highlights of the Portuguese capital, we recommend arriving one to two days before departure. Numerous hotels in the Alfama and Baixa districts, or around the Praca do Comercio, offer first-class accommodation options near the port, so your vacation begins relaxedly in the alleys of Lisbon and no time pressure arises on the day of embarkation.
