Port information & tips for Zutphen

Zutphen is one of the oldest Hanseatic cities in the Netherlands and welcomes its guests with a picturesque backdrop directly on the banks of the IJssel. Known as the "Tower City", the destination charms visitors with its exceptionally well-preserved medieval architecture and invites them to discover historic treasures. Absolute highlights include the impressive St. Walburgiskerk with its world-famous Librije chained library, as well as the striking Wijnhuistoren in the middle of the old town. River cruise ships dock centrally at the IJsselkade, from where the city center can be easily reached in just a few minutes on foot. Furthermore, this berth offers direct access to the picturesque alleys and lively marketplaces of this fascinating Hanseatic city.

Zutphen, a charming Hanseatic city on the IJssel, is a popular destination for river cruises in the Netherlands. Thanks to good transport connections and central berths, such as the Houthaven Yacht Harbour or along the IJssel in the Noorderhaven area, the port is easily accessible for guests from the DACH region.

Auto

You can reach Zutphen comfortably via the Dutch motorways A12 and A50. Coming from Germany, you can reach the city directly via the A50 and the N345. Parking options for short- and long-term parking are available in Zutphen, for example in the multi-storey car park of the Gelre Hospital or at the Q-Park P+R Station Zutphen, which offers 375 parking spaces. The berths are easily accessible from these parking facilities.

Bahn

Zutphen railway station is an important regional rail hub and offers good connections within the Netherlands as well as connections to the German rail network, often with a change of trains in Arnhem. Most berths for river cruises, especially in the Noorderhaven area, are located in the immediate vicinity of the main railway station and are easily accessible within walking distance.

Flugzeug

For international guests, Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS), Düsseldorf (DUS) or Weeze (NRN) airports are suitable options. Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS) is around 100 kilometres away and offers the best connectivity. From there, you can reach Zutphen by train, usually with a change at Arnhem Centraal, in about 1 hour and 49 minutes. Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) is approximately 103 kilometres away. Due to the travel time, it is recommended for air travelers to arrive one day before embarkation in order to start your cruise experience relaxed.

Check-in & Einschiffung

Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The same applies during the journey: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
