Port information & tips for Enkhuizen

Enkhuizen is a picturesque jewel on the IJsselmeer and welcomes travelers with the authentic charm of the Dutch "Golden Age." The historic port city impresses with its magnificently preserved old town, idyllic canals, and a lively maritime atmosphere that invites relaxed strolling. Cultural highlights include the renowned Zuiderzeemuseum with its fascinating open-air area as well as the imposing Drommedaris defense tower, both located directly on the water. River and sea cruise ships usually dock directly at the central Giertjeskade or at Dirck Chinaplein, allowing guests to conveniently reach the historic city center and the charming shopping streets in just a few minutes' walk thanks to the prime location.

The picturesque port of Enkhuizen on the IJsselmeer impresses with its excellent accessibility and close proximity to the charming, historic city center. Thanks to the compact port structure, the central moorings for river cruise ships and sailors are usually just a few minutes' walk from the train station and parking facilities.

Car

Via the A7 motorway towards Hoorn and the subsequent, well-developed N307 national road, you can quickly reach Enkhuizen directly from the DACH region. A particular advantage for drivers is the availability of free long-term parking spaces at the train station (Stationsplein) and at Dirck Chinaplein, allowing for a relaxed start to the cruise without additional parking fees.

Train

Enkhuizen train station serves as a convenient terminus for the Dutch rail network and offers regular Intercity connections from Amsterdam Centraal, which take you to your destination in around 60 minutes. Since the station directly borders the harbor basin, you can easily reach your ship within five to ten minutes on foot after arrival, enjoying a direct connection from the platform to the board.

Airplane

For arrival by air, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) is the ideal choice, as it is located around 80 kilometers away and offers numerous direct connections from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. From the airport, you can reach the port of Enkhuizen either by train in approximately 90 minutes or by taxi or rental car via the A7 in a driving time of about one hour.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is generally scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
