La Roche-Guyon is a picturesque gem on one of the most beautiful loops of the Seine and is officially one of the most beautiful villages in France. The town impresses with its dramatic location below imposing chalk cliffs and exudes an incomparable French flair thanks to its historic half-timbered houses and charming alleys. Absolute highlights include the majestic Château de La Roche-Guyon with its striking medieval keep and the artfully laid out kitchen garden, Potager Fruitier, located directly at the castle. River cruise ships dock at the centrally located Débarcadère de La Roche-Guyon on the Quai de Seine. From this berth, guests can easily reach the historic center and the famous castle complex in just a few minutes' walk along the idyllic riverside promenade.
The picturesque La Roche-Guyon, idyllically situated on a bend of the Seine, is an enchanting stopover for river cruises and, thanks to good connections, is easily accessible from the DACH region. The pier for river cruise ships is located directly on the banks of the charming village and provides convenient access to the famous Château.
Car
The journey by car is pleasant via French trunk roads. From the direction of Paris, you can reach La Roche-Guyon via the A15 motorway towards Cergy-Pontoise, followed by the D14 and the "Hodent / Vernon" exit, from where you follow the signs to Vernon and La Roche-Guyon. Alternatively, take the A13 towards Rouen to exit 11 at Mantes-la-Jolie, then follow the signs via Limay and Vétheuil. Coming from Rouen, also use the A13 towards Paris, take exit 15 (Chauffour) and follow the signs for Bonnières, Bennecourt and finally La Roche-Guyon. In the village, there is a free public car park with 400 spaces at the entrance to the village. Managed car parks have also been in place since May 2026: the first 1.5 hours are free of charge, after which fees apply (e.g. 3 euros for up to 4 hours, 4 euros thereafter, and 10 euros per day for longer parking between April and October).
Train & Bus
The nearest relevant railway station for your arrival is Mantes-la-Jolie, which is easily accessible from Paris. From there, there is a practical bus connection with line 95-11 directly to La Roche-Guyon. Please note that this bus line does not run on Sundays. The journey by train and bus from Paris Charles de Gaulle can take about 3 hours and 48 minutes, depending on the connection.
Plane & Transfer
For international guests from the DACH region, the Parisian airports are ideal. Paris Orly Airport (ORY) is approximately 56 kilometers away and can be reached in about 1 hour and 9 minutes by car. Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) is located at a distance of approximately 62 kilometers, with a travel time of about 1 hour and 9 to 18 minutes. Various transfer options are available from both airports: a direct bus transfer is usually not available, but combined train and bus connections are possible (approx. 2h 58m from ORY or 3h 40m from CDG). For a particularly relaxed arrival, we recommend a taxi or a private shuttle service to take you directly to the river ship.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and bear in mind that the latest embarkation time – depending on the cruise line and destination – is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The following also applies during the journey: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
