Brussels, Belgium's capital, is a popular starting point for river cruises on the Brussels-Scheldt Maritime Canal. The Brussels Cruise Terminal is located in the north of the city and is easily accessible, although it is situated away from the immediate city center.
Car
Arriving at the Brussels Cruise Terminal (Chaussée de Vilvorde 145, 1120 Brussels) is convenient thanks to the well-developed Belgian highway network. Brussels is excellently connected to the DACH region via major long-distance roads. Direct parking options at the terminal are limited, with around ten car parking spaces available. For longer stays, parking garages in Brussels are recommended, which can be booked in advance via providers such as Parclick or ParkBee.
Train
The central arrival station for international travelers is Brussels-Midi (Bruxelles-Midi/Brussel-Zuid), an important hub for ICE, Thalys, and Eurostar connections. From there, you can reach the cruise terminal by taxi in about 25-35 minutes. Alternatively, bus line 57 takes you directly to the "Pavillons Meudon" stop at the terminal, requiring a travel time of around 40-50 minutes. For exploring the city center, Brussels Central station is also an option, as it is located closer to the heart of the city.
Airplane
The nearest airport is Brussels Airport (BRU) in Zaventem, about 15-20 kilometers from the cruise terminal. Thanks to the short distance, you benefit from fast transfer options: a taxi takes about 20-30 minutes to the terminal, while public transportation (train to the central station, then bus or taxi) takes around 45-60 minutes. For a relaxed embarkation and the opportunity to explore the city beforehand, arriving the day before with an overnight stay in a Brussels hotel is recommended.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed check-in time slot with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and consider that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
