Port Vila is the charming capital of Vanuatu on the island of Efate and is considered one of the most picturesque ports of call in the South Pacific. The city impresses with its unique blend of Melanesian hospitality and French influence, nestled against a backdrop of tropical rainforest and turquoise waters. Special highlights in the area include the spectacular Mele Cascades waterfalls, the famous underwater post office at Hideaway Island, and the vibrant Port Vila Market with its authentic handicrafts. Cruise ships dock at the Port Vila Main Wharf, which is located about three kilometers from the pulsing city center and is easily accessible in just a few minutes thanks to local taxis and organized shuttle connections.

Airplane
Bauerfield International Airport (VLI) is located just seven kilometers from the port and is the most important arrival point for international guests. Travelers from the DACH region can easily reach the island via hubs such as Sydney (SYD), Brisbane (BNE), or Auckland (AKL) with airlines such as Air Vanuatu or Qantas.
Transfer & Taxi
The drive from the airport to the cruise terminal at Main Wharf takes only about 15 to 20 minutes and usually follows the Kumul Highway. Numerous taxis and minibuses are available on site, and many cruise lines also offer directly coordinated shuttle transfers, enabling a smooth transition from the plane to the ship.

Due to the long flight time from Europe and the time difference, arriving at least two days before embarkation is advisable. Numerous resorts and hotels in Port Vila offer special packages for cruise guests and are often located just a short drive from the port, allowing your vacation to begin in the relaxed and picturesque surroundings of Mele Bay.
