Les Trois-Ilets on Martinique is a charming cruise destination in the Caribbean, stretching across the Bay of Fort-de-France and known for its beautiful beaches and lovely holiday resorts. Due to long-haul flights from the DACH region, it is recommended to arrive at least one day before embarkation to start your holiday in a relaxed manner.
Airplane
The nearest airport is Martinique Aimé Césaire International Airport (FDF) near Le Lamentin, which is located about 15 to 20 kilometers from Les Trois-Ilets. Flight connections from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland usually involve at least one layover, often in Paris or other Caribbean islands. Therefore, plan for sufficient travel time.
Transfer & Shuttle
From FDF Airport, you can easily reach Les Trois-Ilets by taxi in about 20 to 30 minutes, depending on traffic conditions and your exact destination. A popular and scenic alternative is the combination of bus and ferry: first, take a bus to the Pointe Simon ferry terminal in Fort-de-France, from where regular ferries run to Les Trois-Ilets (e.g., Pointe du Bout or Anse Mitan). This journey takes a total of about 50 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes and offers a beautiful view of the bay. Private transfer services are also a comfortable option.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
For a stress-free start to your cruise, an overnight stay on Martinique is recommended. Numerous hotels and resorts can be found directly in Les Trois-Ilets, particularly in lively areas such as Pointe du Bout or Anse Mitan, which often also offer ferry connections to Fort-de-France. Alternatively, you can choose a hotel in Fort-de-France and easily cross over to Les Trois-Ilets by ferry on embarkation day.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that your travel documents will usually provide you with a fixed time slot for check-in, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The same applies during the journey: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as berthing and departure times can change at short notice.
