Airplane
The nearest and only international airport for the Maldives is Velana International Airport (MLE) in Malé. From the DACH region, there are direct flights, for example from Frankfurt with Condor, or with a layover at hubs such as Dubai or Doha. The flight time is usually between 9 and 12 hours, which is why arriving the day before embarkation is recommended.
Transfer & Shuttle
From Malé, the journey to Kuda Finolhu is usually continued by speedboat transfer. The travel time depends on the exact location of the ship or resort and is typically between 20 and 45 minutes. Many cruise lines or resorts organize these transfers directly from Velana Airport, ensuring a seamless journey. The Maldives also frequently use seaplanes for more distant islands, although the speedboat option is more typical for Kuda Finolhu.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the long journey from Europe and the time difference, an overnight stay in a pre-cruise hotel on one of the nearby islands or in Malé itself is recommended to start the cruise relaxed.
