The port of Bora Bora in the main town of Vaitape is the glamorous gateway to one of the most exclusive cruise destinations in the world and is usually accessed by tender boat due to the protected lagoon. Airplane
Travel from the DACH region is via long-haul connections to Tahiti International Airport (PPT), followed by an approximately 50-minute connecting flight to Bora Bora Airport (BOB). The island airport is located on an offshore coral island (Motu Mute), so the first part of the journey to the ship begins with a spectacular view of the lagoon and Mount Otemanu.
Transfer & Shuttle
From the airport motu, you can only reach the main town of Vaitape by water, with the airlines Air Tahiti and Air Moana providing free boat shuttles for their passengers. The crossing takes about 15 to 20 minutes and leads directly to the central pier in Vaitape, which also serves as the landing stage for the tender boats of the large cruise ships.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the total travel time of over 24 hours and the time difference of up to 12 hours, arriving at least two days before embarkation is recommended. A stay in one of the overwater bungalow resorts or in a hotel on the main island allows for relaxed acclimatization and also ensures that you reach your ship on time even in the event of flight schedule changes for domestic connections.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
