Port information & tips for Lautoka (Viti Levu)

Lautoka, the charming "Sugar City" on the west coast of Viti Levu, is the sunny gateway to the authentic island paradise of Fiji. The city enchants with its relaxed atmosphere, wide avenues lined with flame trees, and the scent of the surrounding sugar cane plantations that define the landscape of the country's second-largest city. Visitors can discover the lively Lautoka Market with regional delicacies and also quickly reach the botanical Garden of the Sleeping Giant as well as the colorful Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple. Cruise ships dock at Queens Wharf, which is located about one kilometer outside the center and, thanks to short distances, provides convenient access to local shops and the island's impressive natural beauty.

The port of Lautoka on the main island of Viti Levu is the gateway to the tropical island paradise of Fiji and is directly accessible via the well-developed Queens Road. Cruise ships dock at Kings Wharf, which serves as a central hub for the region and, thanks to its location, offers short distances to the most important logistical hubs of the west coast.

Airplane

Arrival from the DACH region typically takes place via Nadi International Airport (NAN), which is located about 20 kilometers south of the port. Thanks to international hubs such as Singapore, Hong Kong, or Los Angeles, Viti Levu is well connected, and the terminal in Lautoka is easily reachable from the airport in about 30 to 40 minutes by car.

Transfer & Taxi

From Nadi Airport and the surrounding holiday regions, you can reach the port area directly via Queens Road, the island's main artery. Numerous licensed taxis as well as private shuttle services are available on site, and many cruise lines also offer organized bus transfers, ensuring a direct and smooth journey to the ship.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the long flight duration from Europe and the significant time difference, arriving at least two days before embarkation is recommended. First-class resorts in Nadi or on the nearby island of Denarau provide an ideal setting for relaxed acclimatization and are only a short drive from the cruise terminal.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The following also applies during the journey: For shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
