Port information & tips for Fulaga

Fulaga is a pristine natural paradise in the Fijian Lau Group and, thanks to its isolated location, is one of the most exclusive destinations in the South Seas. The breathtaking lagoon fascinates with mushroom-shaped limestone rocks that rise majestically from the turquoise water, providing a picturesque backdrop for exploration. Highlights include the authentic village of Muana-i-Cake, fine sandbars in the middle of the ocean, and the traditional craftsmanship of local woodcarvers. Since there is no commercial terminal, cruise ships anchor in the protected Fulaga Lagoon and bring guests directly to the coast by tender boat. From this landing point, the village center is easily accessible on foot, allowing visitors to immediately immerse themselves in the warm and relaxed island life.

Returning to the ship

Remote Fulaga in Fiji's southern Lau Group is not an embarkation port in the traditional sense, but rather an exclusive destination for expedition cruises. Arrival at a "terminal" in the usual sense does not exist, as ships anchor off the island and passengers go ashore by tender boat. International guests from the DACH region first travel to the main airport Nadi on Fiji's main island Viti Levu and from there begin their onward journey to the embarkation port, usually Port Denarau.

Airplane

Arrival for cruise guests from the DACH region is primarily by plane to Nadi International Airport (NAN) on Fiji's main island Viti Levu. Numerous international airlines offer connections, often with a stopover, from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Nadi Airport is Fiji's most important hub and, thanks to its infrastructure, a convenient starting point for your South Sea adventure.

Transfer to the embarkation port

From Nadi International Airport (NAN), you can easily reach Port Denarau, the common embarkation port for many Fiji cruises, in just about 15 to 20 minutes by taxi. This modern marina on Denarau Island is the central starting point for voyages to the surrounding island groups and has good connections. For the onward journey to Fulaga itself, you change at the embarkation port to your cruise ship, which calls at Fulaga as a tender port. There you will be brought ashore by your ship via tender boat or zodiac at a natural beach, as there are no piers or terminals on the island.

Pre-cruise hotel for a relaxed arrival

Due to the long international flight, a stay in one of the numerous hotels and resorts on Denarau Island or in Nadi is recommended before embarkation. This allows for a relaxed start to your vacation and guarantees that you reach your ship rested and on time. Many accommodations near Port Denarau also offer practical transfer options to the port. Fulaga itself has no tourist infrastructure or overnight accommodation.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The same applies during the journey: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always observe the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
