Port information & tips for Punta del Este
Punta del Este is considered the most exclusive seaside resort in South America and enchants visitors with its sophisticated charm on the coast of Uruguay. The peninsula impresses with an elegant atmosphere, first-class beaches, and a lively marina where luxury yachts and sea lions can be found in equal measure. Highlights in the immediate vicinity include the iconic sculpture La Mano at Playa Brava, as well as the historic lighthouse and the bustling shopping street Avenida Gorlero. Since cruise ships anchor in the bay, guests reach the port of Puerto de Punta del Este comfortably by tender boat. The central landing stage at Muelle de Pasajeros is located right in the heart of the city, so the charming alleys, exclusive boutiques, and cafes can be explored after just a few steps.

Airplane
Travel from the DACH region is best via Montevideo Carrasco International Airport (MVD), which is located around 110 kilometers away and is easily accessible via European hubs such as Madrid or São Paulo. Alternatively, the regional Capitán de Corbeta Carlos A. Curbelo Airport (PDP) in Laguna del Sauce, just 20 kilometers from the port, serves seasonal connections from neighboring South American metropolises.
Transfer & Bus
From Montevideo Airport, you can reach Punta del Este in about 90 minutes via the well-maintained Ruta Interbalnearia coastal road, with private transfer services and taxis offering a comfortable direct connection to the port. In addition, modern coaches from the companies COT and COPSA run frequently between the capital and the central Terminal de Ómnibus bus station, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the marina.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the long flight time from Europe and the exposed location on the coast, we recommend arriving at least one day before embarkation. The peninsula offers a first-class selection of hotels in all categories, which allow for a relaxed start to the cruise and, thanks to short distances, guarantee a convenient transfer to the tender pier on the morning of departure.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and bear in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is generally scheduled for about one hour before the planned departure.
The following also applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as mooring and departure times may change at short notice.
