Returning to the ship

The Port of Callao, as Peru's most important cruise port and gateway to the capital Lima, is an industrial port where direct access for private vehicles or on foot is not permitted. For this reason, organized transfers are essential for a safe and convenient journey to the ship, especially after long flights from the DACH region.

Airplane

The nearest airport is Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM) in Lima, located only about 6 to 15 kilometers from the cruise terminal in Callao. Direct flight connections from major European cities facilitate your arrival. The journey to the port takes between 9 and 25 minutes, depending on traffic and the type of transfer.

Transfer & Shuttle

For the route from the airport to the cruise terminal or from your hotel to the ship, private transfers or official taxis are the safest and most comfortable option. Many cruise lines also offer free shuttle buses from selected meeting points, such as the Wyndham Grand Costa del Sol Lima Airport Hotel, which is located directly at the airport. It is strongly recommended to book transfers in advance, as the port area itself is not designed for pedestrians and using public transport with luggage is not recommended.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the long flight times from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, arriving a day early with an overnight stay in a hotel in Lima is advisable. This allows for a relaxed start to your cruise while providing the opportunity to explore the vibrant metropolis of Lima, particularly the tourist districts of Miraflores or Barranco. From hotels in Lima, you can reach the Port of Callao by taxi or pre-booked transfer in about 30 to 60 minutes, depending on traffic.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that your travel documents usually include a fixed time slot for check-in, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually about one hour before the scheduled departure.

The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
