From SAL airport to the port of Acajutla, a drive by car or private transfer takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours. Public buses, known as "chicken buses", require multiple transfers and are less suitable for cruise travelers due to the long travel time of about 2.5 to 3.5 hours.
