Punta Suarez on Española Island is a spectacular highlight of the Galápagos Islands and is considered one of the most biodiverse places in the entire archipelago. The pristine atmosphere is characterized by dramatic cliffs and the immediate proximity to rare animal species in their completely natural environment. Visitors can marvel at the world's only nesting site of the Waved Albatross, the colorful marine iguanas, and the spectacular blowhole, which shoots seawater high into the air like a fountain thanks to the pressure of the surf. Arrival takes place at the Punta Suarez Landing Site via a dry landing at a small concrete pier. Since the island is a pure natural paradise with no urban settlement, the adventure begins directly at the landing site and leads via a fascinating circular trail through the heart of this wild idyll.

Airplane
Arrival from Germany, Austria, or Switzerland is via the Ecuadorian metropolises of Quito (UIO) or Guayaquil (GYE), which are served from Europe by renowned airlines such as KLM or Iberia. From there, daily connecting flights with local airlines lead directly to the island airports of Seymour (GPS) on Baltra or San Cristóbal (SCY), which serve as the actual gateways to your expedition cruise.
Transfer & Shuttle
After landing in the Galapagos Islands, the transfer to the ship is usually seamless via organized bus and ferry services provided by the respective cruise lines. At Baltra airport, a short shuttle service takes you to the Itabaca Channel, where small ferries and dinghies are ready for the transfer to the expedition ship anchored in the bay, guaranteeing a direct transition to your adventure.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
For a relaxed start to your trip, we recommend arriving in Ecuador at least two days before embarkation with a stay in the historic old town of Quito or on the Malecon in Guayaquil. This time can be ideally used to handle mandatory formalities such as obtaining the Transit Control Card (TCT) at the airport without stress, while simultaneously adjusting to the time difference in the archipelago in peace.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will typically receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Please plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination area—is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the latest announcements as well as the notices on board, as mooring and departure times may change at short notice.
