Iquique is a fascinating jewel on the northern Chilean coast, nestled between the golden dunes of the Atacama Desert and the deep blue Pacific. Cruise ships dock at the Terminal Molo of the Port of Iquique, from where the vibrant city center and the most important sights are easily accessible in just a few minutes on foot or via a short transfer thanks to the central location.

The modern cruise terminal is located less than two kilometers from the historic city center and is well-connected, although an overnight stay before embarkation is recommended due to the long journey.
Airplane
Travel from the DACH region typically involves a long-haul flight to Santiago de Chile (SCL), followed by a convenient domestic flight to Aeropuerto Internacional Diego Aracena (IQQ) near Iquique. The airport is located about 40 to 45 kilometers south of the city and can be reached in around 25 to 50 minutes thanks to good highway connections. Daily direct flights from Santiago to Iquique are offered by LATAM, SKY, and JetSmart, among others.
Transfer & Shuttle
From Diego Aracena Airport (IQQ), you can reach the city and the port stress-free using various transfer options. Official taxi services are available directly in the arrivals area, with the trip to the city costing approximately 25,000 Chilean Pesos (CLP). In addition, various companies offer comfortable shared and private shuttles that take you directly to your hotel or the terminal.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the long flight time and the time difference, a relaxed early arrival with an overnight stay in Iquique is highly recommended. This allows you to explore the city at your leisure and start your cruise refreshed. Numerous hotels in the city, for example near the popular Cavancha Beach, offer comfortable accommodations and an ideal starting point for your embarkation.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that your travel documents usually provide you with a fixed time slot for check-in, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
