São Francisco do Sul is one of the oldest and most charming jewels on Brazil's southern coast. The picturesque port city impresses with its well-preserved colonial architecture and cobblestone streets, while also offering a relaxed maritime atmosphere directly on the idyllic Bay of Babitonga. Highlights in the immediate vicinity include the renowned Museu Nacional do Mar, the magnificent Igreja Matriz Nossa Senhora da Graça, and the heritage-listed historical center with its colorful facades. Cruise ships dock at the Porto de São Francisco do Sul, which is located right next to the city center, allowing guests to reach the cultural treasures comfortably and within just a few minutes' walk thanks to the excellent location.
São Francisco do Sul in Brazil is ideally accessible by plane for international cruise guests from the DACH region, as it has well-connected airports in the nearby area. A relaxed arrival with an overnight stay in advance is recommended due to the long flight time.
Airplane
The nearest airport is Aeroporto de Joinville (JOI), located only about 16.5 kilometers from the port. Direct long-haul flights from Europe to Joinville are rare; arrival usually takes place via larger hubs such as Afonso Pena International Airport (CWB) in Curitiba (around 95.7 km away) or São Paulo (GRU/CGH), followed by a connecting flight or transfer to Joinville.
Transfer & Shuttle
From Joinville Airport (JOI), you can easily reach the cruise terminal by taxi or ride-sharing services like Uber. A trip by taxi or Uber takes about 57 to 75 minutes and costs approximately R$ 100. Alternatively, bus connections offer a more cost-effective option with a travel time of around one hour for about 6 US dollars (approx. R$ 30). Cruise lines often organize their own transfers as well.

Check-in & Embarkation
