Port information & tips for Florianopolis
Florianópolis, the charming "Island of Magic," is the capital of the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina and fascinates as one of South America's most versatile destinations. The city impresses with a perfect symbiosis of modern quality of life, colonial history, and over 40 stunning beaches, which create an inspiring atmosphere thanks to their untouched nature and azure sea. Cultural highlights include the iconic Ponte Hercílio Luz suspension bridge, the lively Mercado Público, and the idyllic Lagoa da Conceição in the center of the island. Cruise guests usually reach the city by tender boat at Trapiche de Canasvieiras in the north. From this pier, the historic center, located about 25 kilometers away, is easily accessible, allowing for seamless exploration of the island's diverse highlights.
Florianopolis, also known as "Floripa" or "The Magic Island," is a charming destination on the Brazilian south coast and an attractive port of call for cruises. The cruise port is usually located near the historic center on Santa Catarina Island, or ships tender to the Yacht Club. For guests from the DACH region, we recommend a convenient arrival via Fly & Cruise, ideally with a pre-cruise overnight stay to start your cruise experience relaxed.
Airplane
Arrival at the Florianopolis cruise port is via Hercílio Luz International Airport (FLN). This is located approximately 7.7 to 14 kilometers from the city center and the port. Direct flights from Germany, Austria, or Switzerland are rare; instead, you can reach Florianopolis comfortably with a connection via major Brazilian hubs such as São Paulo (GRU) or Rio de Janeiro (GIG), which offer good connecting options.
Transfer & Shuttle
From Florianopolis Airport (FLN), various transfer options will get you to the port or your pre-cruise hotel quickly and comfortably. Taxis are available at the airport and will take you to your destination in about 13 to 20 minutes. In addition, various local providers offer private and shared shuttle services, which allow for a relaxed journey in about 20 to 30 minutes. These services can often be booked in advance to save you waiting times.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the long journey from the DACH region, an overnight stay in a pre-cruise hotel in Florianopolis is highly recommended. This gives you enough time to recover from the journey and enjoy the beauty of the island at your leisure before embarkation. Hotels in the city center or in the northern beach regions are ideal for exploring the surroundings or simply relaxing on the beach. Many cruise lines also offer special hotel packages that already include the transfer to the ship.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that your travel documents will usually include a fixed time slot for check-in, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and bear in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is usually scheduled for about one hour before the planned departure.
The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the latest announcements and notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
