Port information & tips for Fazendinha
Fazendinha serves as the exotic gateway to Macapá and is the only state capital in Brazil located directly on the Equator and the mighty Amazon. This unique destination offers a fascinating blend of untouched tropical nature and rich history thanks to its riverside location, while the warm hospitality of Northern Brazil provides a wonderful flair. Highlights include the impressive Fortaleza de São José de Macapá as well as the iconic Marco Zero Monument, which marks the Equator and allows visitors to stand in two hemispheres at the same time. Cruise ships dock at Porto de Santana, which is about 20 kilometers from the city center and offers the ideal starting point for explorations in this equatorial region thanks to convenient connections.
Fazendinha, a district of Macapá in the state of Amapá, Brazil, serves as a port of call for certain cruises, especially on transatlantic or world voyages. However, it is more of a small anchorage near the mouth of the Amazon and often a port of passage where embarkation takes place by tender boat. Careful travel planning is essential for guests from the DACH region.
Airplane
Arrival for international guests is usually by plane via Macapá Airport (MCP). Due to the long flight duration from the DACH region and the potential need for tender boat use, we recommend arriving at least one day before the scheduled embarkation. Direct flights from Europe to Macapá are not common, so at least one stopover at one of the major Brazilian hubs such as São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro is to be expected.
Transfer & Shuttle
From Macapá Airport, you can reach your accommodation in Macapá or the port area in Fazendinha directly by taxi or pre-booked transfer. The travel time is short, as Fazendinha is a district of Macapá and can be reached quickly from the city center. Specific shuttle services from the cruise lines to the "Port of Fazendinha" are, according to information from some providers, still in preparation. Therefore, booking a private transfer or using local taxis is the most reliable option.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
An overnight stay in a hotel in Macapá or directly in Fazendinha on the day before embarkation is strongly recommended. This allows for a relaxed arrival after the long-haul flight and provides buffer time for potential flight delays or uncertainties when traveling to the port. In Fazendinha itself, as well as in the immediate vicinity of Macapá, you will find various accommodation options that allow for a pleasant start to your cruise adventure.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is generally scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
