Returning to the ship

Boca do Valeria is a remote village on the Amazon and serves exclusively as a port of call for cruises, not as a starting point. There are no traditional terminals here; cruise ships anchor in the river, and guests are comfortably brought ashore by tender boats. The actual journey for DACH guests therefore usually begins at the main embarkation port for Amazon cruises, most often Manaus.

Airplane

Travel from the DACH region is primarily by plane to Manaus International Airport (MAO). Direct flight connections are rare, so connecting flights via major hubs such as Miami, Panama City, Rio de Janeiro, or São Paulo are usually necessary. Manaus Airport is located about 15 kilometers from the city center. Due to the long journey, an overnight stay in Manaus is recommended before embarkation.

Transfer & Shuttle

From Manaus Airport (MAO), you can easily reach the city center or the river port by taxi, private transfer services, or public bus. Taxis offer a fixed price of about 20 US dollars to the city center. Private transfer services will take you punctually and comfortably from the airport or your hotel directly to the embarkation points in Manaus, whether it is the main floating port or one of the smaller marinas. The main river port of Manaus is only about 1.5 kilometers from the city center.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

An overnight stay in Manaus before your Amazon cruise is highly recommended after the long-haul flight. This not only gives you sufficient time to acclimatize but also allows you to explore the fascinating "Paris of the Tropics" with its historic buildings such as the Teatro Amazonas. Many hotels in Manaus offer excellent service and allow for a relaxed start to your Amazon experience.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and bear in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually about one hour before the scheduled departure.

The following also applies during the trip: For shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
