Airplane
For travelers from the DACH region, Rio de Janeiro-Galeão International Airport (GIG) is the most important arrival point, with regular flights from Frankfurt and other European hubs. The airport is located approximately 180 kilometers from the port; additionally, the Santos Dumont (SDU) domestic airport, located closer to the city center, offers practical connecting flights within Brazil. An alternative for domestic flights is Cabo Frio Airport (CFB), which is only about 30 kilometers from Búzios.
Transfer & Shuttle
The drive from Rio de Janeiro to Búzios takes about three hours by car or transfer bus and leads over the impressive Rio-Niterói Bridge as well as the BR-101 and RJ-124 (Via Lagos) highways. In addition to private chauffeur services and rental cars, cruise lines often offer convenient bus shuttles directly from the airports or hotels in Rio. Furthermore, regular long-distance buses operated by Viação 1001 run directly from Galeão Airport or the Novo Rio bus station.

Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is generally scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
