Port information & tips for Jeddah

Jeddah is the fascinating gateway to Saudi Arabia and, as a vibrant metropolis on the Red Sea, impressively combines millennia-old tradition with a modern lifestyle. The city captivates with its unique atmosphere of historical heritage and futuristic architecture, while the sea breeze provides a relaxed maritime flair. Absolute highlights include the UNESCO World Heritage Site Al Balad with its magnificent coral stone houses, the majestic King Fahd's Fountain, and the extensive Jeddah Corniche. Cruise ships dock at the modern Jeddah Cruise Terminal in the Jeddah Islamic Port, from where the historic old town and the lively neighborhoods are easily accessible thanks to a short drive of about 15 minutes, while simultaneously providing a comfortable starting point for exploration.

Jeddah is Saudi Arabia's most important maritime gateway and welcomes cruise guests at the modern Jeddah Cruise Terminal within the extensive Jeddah Islamic Port. Thanks to its central location on the Red Sea and proximity to the international airport, the port offers a comfortable infrastructure for travelers from the DACH region.

Airplane

King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) is located approximately 25 kilometers north of the port and is regularly served by flights from Frankfurt, Munich, or Zurich. From there, you can reach the terminal easily by taxi or ride-sharing apps like Uber and Careem in about 30 to 40 minutes; additionally, the direct connection to Highway 5 ensures a swift journey to the port grounds.

Transfer & Shuttle

Comfortable shuttle services are available within the extensive industrial port to transport passengers safely between the berths and the modern terminal building. Most cruise lines also offer organized bus transfers directly from the airport, while licensed airport taxis provide a reliable alternative for direct travel to the ship thanks to fixed rates.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to flight times and Jeddah's cultural diversity, an arrival the day before with an overnight stay in one of the hotels on the Corniche or near the historic Al-Balad district is recommended. This allows for a relaxed start to the cruise and also offers the opportunity to visit sights such as the King Fahd Fountain or use the modern Haramain High-Speed Railway for excursions in the region.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The following also applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the latest announcements and notices on board, as docking and departure times may change at short notice.
