Port information & tips for Luxor
Luxor is the glamorous center of Egyptian history and is considered the world's largest open-air museum right on the banks of the Nile. The city enchants its visitors with a mystical atmosphere between ancient monuments and the pulsing life on the longest river on earth. World-famous treasures such as the majestic Luxor Temple, the massive Karnak Temple complex, and the historic Valley of the Kings on the opposite West Bank are easily accessible and promise fascinating insights into the time of the pharaohs. The ships dock directly at the central pier of the Luxor Corniche, placing guests right in the heart of the city thanks to the prime location, allowing them to reach all cultural highlights as well as the lively bazaars in just a few minutes' walk.

Airplane
Luxor International Airport (LXR) is the primary arrival point for international guests and is located only about 7 to 10 kilometers east of the city center and the banks of the Nile. Numerous airlines offer connections, often with a layover, from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The drive to the Nile cruise ships takes about 15 to 25 minutes, depending on traffic.
Transfer & Shuttle
Various transfer options to the Nile cruise ships are available from Luxor International Airport (LXR). Most cruise lines offer organized transfers that are already included in the travel package or can be booked additionally. Alternatively, taxis are available directly at the airport. Due to the long journey from the DACH region and potential flight delays, it is strongly recommended to arrive at least one day before the scheduled embarkation to start your adventure in a relaxed manner.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
An overnight stay in one of the numerous hotels in Luxor before the start of the cruise is an ideal way to acclimatize to the climate and gather your first impressions of the ancient city. Many hotels are centrally located and allow a convenient transfer to the piers on the Nile on the day of embarkation. The hotels can also assist with organizing local transfers.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Accordingly, plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and bear in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The same applies during the trip: For shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
