Port information & tips for Mina Khalifa
Manama, the dazzling capital of Bahrain, welcomes travelers as a fascinating blend of Oriental tradition and forward-looking modernity right on the Persian Gulf. The island nation impresses with a striking skyline and historical treasures that are easily accessible thanks to the port's prime location. Highlights include the majestic Arad Fort, the Bahrain National Museum, and the magnificent Al-Fateh Mosque, which provide deep insights into the rich culture. Cruise ships dock at the modern Khalifa Bin Salman Port (KBSP), located in the northeast of the island. From this terminal, the city center of Manama can be reached comfortably in about 20 minutes by car, while also enjoying a smooth transition to the kingdom's lively souks and attractions.
Mina Khalifa in Bahrain is easily accessible for cruise guests from the DACH region thanks to its central location and good connections to the international airport. The port features a modern cruise terminal that enables smooth embarkation.
Airplane
The nearest airport is Bahrain International Airport (BAH), which is located on the island of Muharraq. This is only about 15 to 20 kilometers away from the Mina Khalifa port. The airport is served by various international airlines, including direct connections from the DACH region or convenient connecting flights. Due to the longer flight time, it is recommended to arrive at least one day before the planned embarkation.
Transfer & Shuttle
From Bahrain International Airport (BAH), you can reach the Mina Khalifa port quickly and comfortably by taxi. The travel time is about 15 to 25 minutes depending on the traffic situation. In addition, many cruise lines or local providers offer organized transfer services that take you directly from the airport to the cruise terminal.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
For a relaxed start to your cruise, an overnight stay in one of the numerous hotels in Manama or the immediate vicinity of the port is highly recommended. Many hotels also often offer parking facilities and organize transfers to the cruise terminal upon request. An overnight stay in advance allows you to start your journey well-rested and potentially gather your first impressions of Bahrain.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that with your travel documents you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The same applies during the journey: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements as well as the postings on board, as berthing and departure times can change at short notice.
