Useful tips
Returning to the ship
Stranda in the Sunnylvsfjord welcomes you as a picturesque cruise port set amidst Norway's breathtaking fjord landscapes and often serves as a tender port or anchorage for smaller ships, with a village center that is compact and easily accessible.
Airplane
For international guests from the DACH region, traveling by plane is the most common option. The nearest airports are Ålesund Airport Vigra (AES) at a distance of around 50 to 51 kilometers and Ørsta/Volda Airport (HOV) at a distance of about 47 kilometers. From Ålesund (AES), you can reach Stranda by bus in approximately 2 hours and 59 minutes. From Ørsta/Volda Airport (HOV), the journey takes about 2 hours and 49 minutes with bus connections. Local taxi and transport services such as IngersTrans are also available for transfers.
Car
Stranda is also easily accessible by car, especially for a flexible journey through the impressive Norwegian landscape. The Fylkesvei 60 leads directly to Stranda and offers a scenic alternative to the E39 towards Ålesund. In the village of Stranda itself, you will find various short-term and paid parking options. Some centrally located hotels, such as the Dreges Hotell, also offer free parking for their guests.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the usually longer journey from the DACH region and the necessary transfers from the airports, an overnight stay in a pre-cruise hotel before embarkation day is recommended. This allows for a relaxed start to your cruise and sufficient time to travel to the port. In Stranda itself, you will find hotels such as the centrally located Dreges Hotell, which promises a pleasant stay directly in the fjord village.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan accordingly and allow enough time for the journey to the port, keeping in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is generally scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the latest announcements and the notices on board, as mooring and departure times may change at short notice.
