Hellesylt is a picturesque gem at the end of the Sunnylvsfjord and is considered one of the most spectacular gateways to the Norwegian fjord world. The village impresses with its dramatic backdrop of steep mountains, deep blue water, and an authentic atmosphere that radiates pure Scandinavian idyll. Absolute highlights include the thundering Hellesyltfossen waterfall, which plunges directly through the village, while the Peer Gynt Galleriet offers fascinating insights into local woodcarving art. Cruise ships dock at the centrally located Hellesylt Cruise Pier, from which the charming village center and the small swimming beach are easily accessible on foot within a few minutes thanks to the short distances.
Hellesylt is idyllically situated at the end of the Sunnylvsfjord and, thanks to its modern cruise pier, serves as a comfortable starting point for discoveries in the UNESCO-protected Geirangerfjord. The docking point is located directly in the town center, so travelers are greeted by the impressive natural scenery and the famous Hellesylt waterfall immediately upon arrival.
Airplane
The nearest international airport is Ålesund Vigra (AES), located about 110 kilometers from Hellesylt and easily reached from the DACH region via hubs such as Oslo. From there, you can reach the port in about two and a half to three hours by rental car or bus transfer, with the route through the fjord landscape already representing a scenic highlight.
Car
Hellesylt is directly connected to the Norwegian trunk road network and the important north-south connection E39 via the scenic Rv60 highway. In the village, parking spaces for cars are available in the immediate vicinity of the pier and at the ferry terminal; additionally, the central location offers easy orientation directly by the water.

Since Hellesylt is a charming but small village, an overnight stay in the village itself or in nearby Stranda is recommended if you have a long journey. This allows for a relaxed start to the cruise day and also offers the opportunity to visit the imposing waterfall and the historic Sunnylven church in peace before embarkation.
