Cruise ships usually dock directly at the central pier Dampskipskaia or at the Fuglenes terminal, from where the city center is easily accessible on foot thanks to short distances, while also providing uncomplicated access to all attractions.

The Hammerfest Cruise Center is centrally located in the city, allowing guests to reach the center directly after disembarking and easily explore the main sights on foot. Cruise ships usually dock at the main quay in the city center, allowing for direct shore access via a gangway.
Airplane
Arrival from the DACH region is primarily by plane, usually with stopovers in Oslo (OSL) or Tromsø (TOS), as direct flights to Hammerfest (HFT) are rare. Hammerfest Airport (HFT) is only about 4 to 5.5 kilometers from the city center and the port, which allows for a very quick onward journey. Due to long flight times and potential connecting flights, it is advisable to arrive at least one day before the scheduled embarkation to start your cruise adventure relaxed. This also offers the opportunity to explore the northernmost city in the world at your leisure.
Transfer & Shuttle
From Hammerfest Airport (HFT), you can reach the cruise terminal comfortably by taxi in about 5 minutes or by local city bus (line 30) in about 10 minutes. Bus tickets usually cost between 40 and 60 Norwegian Kroner. Alternatively, private transfer services and limousine services offer a comfortable direct ride from the airport to the ship.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
An overnight stay in one of the hotels in Hammerfest before the cruise is highly recommended when arriving by plane. This minimizes stress from potential flight delays and allows you to board the ship well-rested. Hotels such as the Scandic Hammerfest are well connected to the airport transfer and offer an excellent base for exploring the city and its attractions, such as the Meridian Column or the Royal and Ancient Polar Bear Society, before departure.
(Note: Arrival by train is not directly possible to Hammerfest, as the railway lines in Norway do not reach these high latitudes. The nearest major train station is located hundreds of kilometers south in Narvik or Bodø.)
(Arriving by car from the DACH region is a very long journey of about 33 hours and over 2900 km, which is more suitable for an extensive Norway round trip than for direct travel to a cruise. There are public parking garages such as the Kirkeparken parking garage in the center of Hammerfest, which offer camera-based parking, but no specific "Park & Cruise" providers for cruise guests on a larger scale.)
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that your travel documents usually provide a fixed time slot for check-in, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan accordingly and allow sufficient time for travel to the port, keeping in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
