Bergen is the magnificent gateway to the Norwegian fjords and one of Scandinavia's most atmospheric cities. Highlights in the immediate vicinity include the world-famous UNESCO World Heritage site Bryggen with its colorful wooden houses, the historic Bergenhus fortress, and the lively fish market. Additionally, the nearby Fløibanen funicular offers a spectacular panoramic view of the city and the coast. Cruise ships usually dock at the central Skoltegrunnskaien or Bontelabo piers, meaning the historic city center and all major attractions are easily reachable in about ten to fifteen minutes on foot thanks to the prime location.
Bergen is the gateway to the Norwegian fjords and impresses with a first-class infrastructure that enables a comfortable arrival for cruisers from the DACH region. The ships dock either at the central Jekteviksterminalen or at the historic quays of Skolten and Bontelabo, both of which are just a short walk away from the famous Hanseatic district of Bryggen.
Airplane
Bergen Airport Flesland (BGO) is located around 18 kilometers south of the port and is regularly served directly or via Oslo from Frankfurt, Munich, or Zurich. Thanks to the Flybussen airport bus, you can reach the terminals in about 30 minutes; additionally, the Bybanen light rail offers an affordable and reliable connection directly to the city center.
Train & Ferry
Arrival with the famous Bergen Railway from Oslo offers spectacular views and ends at Bergen stasjon, which is located just 1.5 kilometers from the cruise quays. For travelers with their own car or motorhome, the direct ferry connection by Fjord Line from Hirtshals in Denmark represents an attractive option, as the ship docks directly at the Jektevik Terminal in Bergen.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Arriving the day before is particularly recommended in Bergen to explore the historic old town and the fish market in a relaxed manner. Many hotels in the city center and at the port offer special conditions for cruise guests as well as straightforward access to long-term parking garages such as ByGarasjen, which are directly accessible via the E16 and E39 European routes.
Check-in & Embarkation
