Alta is located deep in the Norwegian north on the picturesque Altafjord and is known as the world-famous "City of the Northern Lights." Airplane
Alta Airport (ALF) is located only about four kilometers from the port and is regularly served via the Oslo hub. Thanks to the short distance, you can reach the cruise terminal in about ten minutes comfortably by taxi or the organized shuttle buses of the cruise lines.
Auto
Arrival by your own vehicle or rental car is via the E6 European route, which is the most important traffic artery in Northern Norway and connects Alta directly. In the immediate vicinity of the port as well as in the nearby city center, travelers will find guarded parking spaces and parking areas for the duration of the cruise.

Due to the location in the Arctic and to safeguard against weather-related flight delays, arriving the day before is highly recommended. Hotels in the center of Alta offer a comfortable stay and also allow for visits to local sights such as the Northern Lights Cathedral before the ship departs.
