Milwaukee, located on the shores of Lake Michigan, is an easily accessible cruise port with a charming city center. The main terminal is Pier Wisconsin in the heart of the city, complemented by the South Shore Cruise Dock, which will be operational from summer 2026, ensuring excellent connections for passengers from all over the world.
Airplane
The nearest airport is Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE), located only about 13 kilometers south of the city center, allowing for a quick drive of approximately 15 minutes. For guests from the DACH region, we recommend arriving at least one day before embarkation due to the long flight time. The airport offers numerous connections and is an ideal starting point for your Great Lakes cruise.
Transfer & Shuttle
From Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE), you can easily reach the port and downtown hotels by taxi or rideshare services such as Uber and Lyft; a taxi ride to the port takes about 11 minutes and costs approximately 18-22 USD. In addition, various shuttle services such as GO Riteway Transportation Group and SuperShuttle are available, offering a comfortable door-to-door service. A cost-effective alternative is provided by the public bus lines of the Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS), such as the GreenLine, which departs directly from airport baggage claim 2 and connects to the city center.
Pre-Cruise Hotel & Parking
Since Port Milwaukee itself does not offer long-term parking for cruise passengers, staying overnight in one of the centrally located hotels in Downtown Milwaukee is an excellent choice for a relaxed start to your cruise. Many hotels near the port also offer special "Park & Cruise" packages, which include secure parking during your trip. Alternatively, you can find long-term parking at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport or through private providers like SpotHero in secured parking garages or monitored parking lots in the city area.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
