Car

Eureka is excellently connected to the road network, particularly via U.S. Highway 101, which runs along the Pacific coast and offers direct connections from the north (Oregon) and south (San Francisco). Travelers from the direction of Sacramento use the I-5 and switch to Highway 299, which leads them to the coast and finally onto US-101 South. For parking, public parking spaces are available near the Waterfront and Old Town, including free all-day parking at First St/E St and C St/Second St/First St.

Train

A direct train connection to Eureka does not exist, but Amtrak offers a convenient journey via Amtrak Thruway Bus. Coming from the DACH region, the trip from San Francisco is a common option, where you take the San Joaquins train to Martinez and transfer there to the direct Line 7 bus to Eureka. The bus station in Eureka is centrally located at 6th and C Street and offers connections to local buses for onward travel. Since the bus station has no service facilities such as waiting rooms or baggage check-in, an early arrival for embarkation is recommended.

Airplane

The nearest airport is Arcata-Eureka Airport (ACV), also known as California Redwood Coast – Humboldt County Airport, located about 20 to 25 minutes drive north of Eureka. ACV is served directly by major hubs such as San Francisco (SFO), Los Angeles (LAX), and Denver (DEN), ensuring good connections for international guests. For transfers to the port, rental cars, the Door to Door Airporter Shuttle, taxis (approx. 20 minutes travel time for 65-80 USD), or the Redwood Transit System bus, which takes about 55 minutes, are available. Due to the long journey from the DACH region, an overnight stay in a pre-cruise hotel in Eureka or the surrounding area is recommended to start your cruise relaxed.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The following also applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
