On foot
The old town of St. George, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is wonderful to explore on foot. Since the ships dock directly at Ordnance Island or Penno’s Wharf, you can reach the central King’s Square and the surrounding historic buildings in less than five minutes.
Ferry (SeaExpress)
From the nearby Market Wharf, the orange ferries of the SeaExpress service take you by sea directly to the Royal Naval Dockyard. This connection is particularly popular and offers a magnificent view of the Bermuda coastline thanks to the trip through the turquoise water.
Taxi and bus
Official taxis wait for passengers at King’s Square and allow for quick travel to picturesque bays such as Tobacco Bay. In addition, the well-known pink-and-blue buses run regularly towards Hamilton and conveniently connect the port with the most beautiful beaches along the south coast.

The picturesque Tobacco Bay can be easily reached from the port in St. George on a pleasant fifteen-minute walk or a very short taxi ride, and is home to one of Bermuda's most impressive bays with striking limestone formations right in the water. Thanks to its calm, shallow waters, this spot is perfect for snorkelers and also offers excellent infrastructure with the Tobacco Bay Beach Club, which treats you to comfortable loungers, umbrellas, and a selection of cool drinks and local dishes. Ideally, visit this special stretch of coastline in the morning to secure a prime spot, and plan your return to the port about ninety minutes before departure so you can enjoy a relaxed look at the historic St. Peter’s Church along the way.
Returning to your berth in St. George is very convenient thanks to the city's central location and short distances. You will reach your ship safely and on time, as all major transport hubs are located in the immediate vicinity of the port area.
Taxi and Minibuses
Central taxi ranks are located directly at King's Square and at popular swimming beaches such as Tobacco Bay or St. Catherine's Beach. In addition, regular minibus shuttles operate from these beaches, taking you comfortably and quickly directly back to the port entrance.
Public Buses and Ferries
The bus stops at King's Square offer easy connections to routes 1, 3, 10, and 11 for guests returning from other regions of the island. If you prefer the waterway, the Orange Route ferry takes you from the Royal Naval Dockyard directly to Market Wharf in St. George, from where it is only a short walk to the ship.
On Foot
As the cruise piers Penno's Wharf and Hunter's Wharf directly border the historic city center, you can enjoy a relaxed 5 to 10-minute walk back to the ship. The path through the charming alleys of the old town is very safe and easy to find at any time thanks to the prominent masts of your cruise ship and the good signage.
