St. George’s in Bermuda is a historical jewel and, as the oldest continuously inhabited British settlement, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Right at the harbor, highlights such as the historic St. Peter’s Church, the mystical Unfinished Church, and the impressive Fort St. Catherine invite you to make exciting discoveries. Thanks to the excellent location, cruise ships dock directly at Ordnance Island, which is located immediately at King’s Square in the heart of the center. From there, the picturesque squares and first-class boutiques can be easily explored on foot while simultaneously offering an authentic insight into history.
St. George, Bermuda, is a historic and picturesque cruise port that delights travelers with its UNESCO World Heritage status and its charming atmosphere. Smaller to medium-sized cruise ships can dock directly at the piers in Penno's Wharf or Ordnance Island, while larger ships anchor in Murray's Anchorage and bring guests conveniently to the harbor via tender boat. Travel from the DACH region is primarily by air with a subsequent short transfer.
Airplane
L.F. Wade International Airport (BDA) is Bermuda's only airport and is ideally located in the parish of St. George's. Although there are no direct flight connections from Germany, Austria, or Switzerland, the airport is easily accessible thanks to connections via major North American (e.g., New York, Boston, Toronto) and European hubs (e.g., London). For a relaxed journey and to acclimate, it is recommended to arrive at least one day before the planned embarkation.
Transfer & Shuttle
From L.F. Wade International Airport (BDA), you can reach the cruise port in St. George's quickly and easily thanks to the very short distance of only about 2 kilometers. Taxis are available directly in front of the terminal and offer a comfortable ride to the ship or your hotel. Alternatively, you can pre-book private transfers or minibus shuttles, which ensure a comfortable and stress-free door-to-door service.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
For a relaxed start to your cruise and to explore the historic beauty of St. George's at your leisure, a pre-cruise overnight stay in one of the city's charming hotels is highly recommended. Hotels such as the St. George's Club Hotel or the Hillcrest Boutique Hotel provide an excellent base for conveniently discovering the UNESCO World Heritage site with its narrow streets, historic buildings, and local sights on foot.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually about one hour before the scheduled departure.
The same applies during the trip: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
