Port information & tips for Remich
Remich, often referred to as the "Pearl of the Moselle," is the charming gateway to the Luxembourg Wine Route and a brilliant highlight of any river cruise. The town impresses with its picturesque location between rolling vineyards and the sparkling riverbank, which, thanks to the sun-drenched promenades, gives it an almost Mediterranean flair. Cultural highlights include the historic St. Nikolaus-Tor and the impressive rock cellars of the Caves St. Martin, while the extensive Esplanade invites you to relax. Cruise ships dock directly at the piers of the Esplanade Remich, meaning travelers arrive right in the heart of the city and can easily reach all the sights and cozy wine taverns on foot in just a few steps.
Remich, the "Pearl of the Moselle," is a picturesque starting point for river cruises and is easily accessible thanks to its location in the Luxembourg wine-growing region. The compact town on the Moselle welcomes cruise guests at the Quai de la Moselle, from where the charming city center and the promenade can be easily explored on foot.
Car
For arrival by car, the A13 motorway runs through southern Luxembourg, with connections to Remich. In addition, the N10 is a major traffic artery along the Moselle that leads directly to Remich. Public parking is available on-site; it is recommended to plan more time for finding a parking space during large events such as wine festivals. Many hotels in Remich also offer parking for their guests.
Airplane
The nearest international airport is Luxembourg Airport (LUX), located only about 20 to 25 kilometers from Remich. The travel time from the airport to the port is around 20 to 30 minutes thanks to short distances. Taxis are available for a comfortable transfer, costing approximately 40 to 50 euros, or you can use one of the numerous private shuttle and transfer services. Given the potentially high demand on embarkation days, pre-booked private transfers are recommended.
Train
Although Remich does not have its own train connection, Luxembourg City Main Station (Gare Centrale) is the central arrival point. From there, travelers can easily reach the Gare routière in Remich via bus line 413, with a travel time of about 42 minutes and hourly connections. Alternatively, a taxi will take you to the terminal in around 22 minutes. An overnight stay in Luxembourg City before the cruise is a great option to explore the capital before continuing your relaxed journey to Remich.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and bear in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination area - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The following also applies during the journey: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
