Alanya on the sun-drenched Turkish Riviera is a fascinating destination that perfectly combines ancient history with a modern holiday atmosphere. The city impresses with its picturesque location between the imposing Taurusgebirge and the crystal-clear Mediterranean Sea, providing an extraordinary backdrop. Highlights in the immediate vicinity of the harbor include the prominent Kızıl Kule (Red Tower), the historical Seljuk Shipyard, and the impressive Alanya Castle, which is also easily accessible by a modern cable car. Cruise ships dock at the centrally located Alanya Cruise Port. Thanks to this prime location, the lively harbor promenade, the colorful bazaars, and the famous Kleopatra Beach are just a short, pleasant walk from the pier.
The port of Alanya, idyllically located on the Turkish Riviera, is easily accessible thanks to its central location and good connections to regional airports. The modern cruise terminal offers a pleasant atmosphere with all the essential services for arriving guests.
Airplane
Two airports are available for arrival from the DACH region: Gazipaşa-Alanya Airport (GZP) is the closest, at only around 39 to 42 kilometers away, and is mainly served by seasonal charter flights. Alternatively, the larger Antalya Airport (AYT) offers a wider selection of direct flights and is located about 114 to 125 kilometers away. A planned new highway between Antalya and Alanya will reduce the current travel time of around 2.5 hours to about 35 to 36 minutes in the future, significantly speeding up the journey from Antalya.
Transfer & Shuttle
Diverse transfer options exist from both airports directly to the cruise port or your hotel. From Gazipaşa Airport (GZP), you can reach Alanya by private transfer or shuttle in about 34 to 40 minutes. From Antalya Airport (AYT), private transfer services, taxis, and comfortable shuttle buses are available. Taxis and local minibuses (Dolmuş) can also be found directly at the port exit, which will conveniently take you to all the major attractions in Alanya.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the international travel, especially with long-haul flights, we recommend arriving at least one day before embarkation. This allows for a relaxed start to your cruise without time pressure. In Alanya, you will find numerous hotels near the port that are ideal for a pre-cruise overnight stay. Many of these accommodations also provide a good starting point for exploring the old town, Alanya Castle, or the Red Tower, all of which are within walking distance of the port.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that your travel documents usually provide a fixed time slot for check-in, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is generally scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The same applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
