Port information & tips for Palma de Majorca
Palma de Mallorca is the radiant capital of the Balearic Islands and one of the most multifaceted cruise ports in the Western Mediterranean. The city welcomes visitors with a harmonious blend of Mediterranean serenity, magnificent architecture, and a lively harbor promenade lined with palm trees. Absolute highlights within direct reach include the majestic La Seu Cathedral, the historic Almudaina Palace, and the circular Castell de Bellver, which offers a spectacular panoramic view over the bay. Cruise ships dock at the modern Estació Marítima at Moll de Ponent, from where the historic old town is comfortably accessible in about ten minutes thanks to regular shuttle buses and public bus line 1.
The Port of Palma de Mallorca is one of the most significant cruise hubs in the Mediterranean and is easily accessible thanks to the Balearic island's excellent infrastructure. The extensive terminals of Estación Marítima and Dique del Oeste are located west of the city center and are ideally connected to the transportation network.
Airplane
Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) is located only about 12 kilometers from the port and is served directly several times a day by almost all major airports in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Thanks to the short flight time of around two to three hours and the direct Ma-19 highway connection, travelers often reach the ship shortly after landing.
Transfer & Taxi
From the airport, you can comfortably reach the various berths of the port in about 15 to 20 minutes by taxi. In addition, the A1 bus line offers a regular connection from the airport via the city center directly to the port area, while organized transfers from the cruise lines ensure a seamless transition from the luggage belt to the terminal.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to the high frequency of flights and the attractiveness of the island's capital, arriving a day early with an overnight stay in one of the numerous hotels near the port or in the old town is often recommended. This offers the advantage of a relaxed start to your vacation without time pressure and also allows for a visit to the famous La Seu Cathedral, which is located within sight of the cruise ships.
