Ceuta is a fascinating Spanish exclave on the north coast of Africa, marking the impressive meeting point between two continents and the world's oceans. The city enchants visitors with its unique multicultural flair and strategic location on the Strait of Gibraltar, where the Mediterranean and the Atlantic meet. Historical treasures such as the imposing Murallas Reales with its navigable moat, the Parque Marítimo del Mediterráneo designed by César Manrique, and the magnificent Plaza de África await in the immediate vicinity of the port. Cruise ships dock at the centrally located Muelle de España, from which the lively city center and all major attractions are easily accessible in just a few minutes on foot thanks to the excellent location.

The port has two terminals, Muelle España and Poniente, with ferries from the Spanish mainland arriving at Muelle España, which is located just 100 meters from the city center, allowing for convenient exploration.
Plane & Ferry Crossing
For travelers from the DACH region, traveling by plane in combination with a ferry crossing is the most common and comfortable option. The nearest major airport on the Spanish mainland is Málaga (AGP), approximately 184 kilometers away, which offers direct connections from many German cities. From there, you can easily reach Algeciras by bus, where you take the ferry to Ceuta. The total transfer time from Málaga Airport to Ceuta is approximately 4 hours and 14 minutes. Alternatively, Gibraltar Airport (GIB) is an option, located only about 62 kilometers from Ceuta. After a short bus ride of about 30 minutes to the port of Algeciras, you cross by ferry. The ferry crossing from Algeciras to Ceuta takes about one hour and is offered several times a day by ferry companies such as Baleària, FRS Iberia, and Trasmediterránea.
Car & Ferry Crossing
Arriving with your own car or a rental car is also possible, but requires a ferry crossing from Algeciras. The city of Algeciras is excellently connected to the Spanish highway network and serves as an important ferry hub. From there, you can either park your vehicle in a guarded parking lot and take the ferry as a foot passenger or bring the car directly onto the ferry to Ceuta. In Ceuta itself, there are parking facilities at the port, with the first 30 minutes being free of charge, as well as public parking garages such as the IC La Marina. Thanks to the short ferry duration of around one hour, this option is a flexible way to reach Ceuta.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Given the combined journey by plane and ferry, a pre-cruise hotel is highly recommended for a relaxed start to your cruise. You can either stay overnight in Algeciras to take the ferry the next morning feeling refreshed, or choose a hotel directly in Ceuta. The Muelle España ferry port in Ceuta is located only 100 meters from the city center, making city exploration and hotel transfers very convenient. Numerous hotels in Ceuta, including the Parador de Ceuta or the Oh Nice Ulises Ceuta, offer comfortable accommodation in a central location.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The same applies during the journey: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
