Cruise ships dock at the Isola Bianca pier, from where free shuttle buses conveniently transport travelers in just a few minutes to the port exit on Via Principe Umberto, putting the charming old town within easy reach for exploration.
The port of Olbia on the northeast coast of Sardinia is easily accessible for cruise passengers thanks to its location right on the edge of the city and its proximity to the international airport. Handling takes place at the modern Isola Bianca terminal, which serves as a central hub for ships in the Mediterranean with its striking structure and offers short distances to the center.
Airplane
Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport (OLB) is located only about four kilometers from the port and is served by direct flights from numerous cities in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland during the season. Thanks to the short distance, you can reach the Isola Bianca terminal in about 10 to 15 minutes by taxi or use the affordable city bus lines 2 and 10, which run regularly between the airport grounds and the port area.
Car & Parking
Via the SS131 d.c.n. expressways from the south and the SS125 from the north, you can reach the Isola Bianca port area directly, which is well-signposted and easy to find. For travelers with their own car, secure parking options such as those offered by ParkinGO or the central parking spaces at Molo Brin are available, often including a practical shuttle service directly to the cruise terminal.
Train & Transfer
Olbia train station in the city center offers good connections within Sardinia and is only two kilometers from the port. From there, you can easily reach the ship in a few minutes by taxi or the ASPO bus lines 1 and 9; additionally, for those traveling from the DACH region, an overnight stay in one of the charming hotels in the old town is recommended to check in the next morning relaxed and without time pressure.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The following also applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and the notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
