Port information & tips for Fusina (Venice)
Fusina is the modern gateway to the lagoon city of Venice and is strategically located on the Italian mainland directly on the edge of the glittering lagoon. The location impresses with a wide panoramic view over the water and combines maritime flair with direct access to the UNESCO World Heritage site. In the immediate vicinity, architectural masterpieces such as the magnificent Villa Foscari "La Malcontenta" on the Brenta Canal beckon, while the surrounding waterways invite you on boat tours into the historic center. Cruise ships dock at the Venezia-Fusina terminal, which, thanks to regular vaporetto connections, offers a direct link to the Zattere stop in about 20 minutes, while also providing comfortable access to the world-famous art and culture of the City of the Doges.
The port of Fusina is located on the Italian mainland directly on the Venice Lagoon and serves as a modern terminal for large cruise ships. Thanks to its strategic location in the Marghera district, guests benefit from direct accessibility and an efficient infrastructure for embarkation.
Car
Via the A4 and A57 motorways as well as the SS309 state road, you can easily reach the Malcontenta-Fusina exit and from there proceed directly to the terminal grounds on Via Moranzani. The spacious Terminal Fusina Parking is available directly at the port, offering secure long-term parking for cruise guests and allowing luggage drop-off directly at the ship.
Airplane
Venice Marco Polo International Airport (VCE) is located approximately 25 kilometers away and is regularly served by direct flights from all major cities in the DACH region. For the onward transfer to the terminal, we recommend the cruise lines' shuttle services or a taxi, which cover the distance in around 30 minutes and bring you comfortably to check-in.
Train & Transfer
Venezia Mestre station is the central arrival point for long-distance trains from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland and is located only 12 kilometers from the port. From there, you can reach the Fusina terminal quickest by taxi or a transfer service; additionally, the Line 16 ferry connects the port in just 20 minutes with the Venice city center for guests with a pre-cruise hotel.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will generally receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination area—is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
The following also applies during the voyage: for shore excursions, you should be back on board no later than one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements as well as the notices on board, as docking and departure times can change at short notice.
