Cruise port Cagliari (Sardinia)

Port information & tips for Cagliari (Sardinia)

Cagliari, the charming capital of Sardinia, welcomes its visitors with Mediterranean warmth and a deeply rooted history right on the Gulf of the Angels. The city impresses with its imposing location on the hills, where magnificent architecture and the azure Mediterranean Sea form a picturesque backdrop. Absolute highlights in the immediate vicinity include the medieval Castello district with the grand Bastione di Saint Remy as well as the impressive Cathedral of Santa Maria. Cruise ships dock at the centrally located Molo Rinascita, from which guests can easily reach the magnificent Via Roma and the historic city center in just a few minutes' walk thanks to the excellent connections.

The Port of Cagliari is located directly next to the historical city center of the Sardinian capital and, thanks to its modern infrastructure at Molo Rinascita, offers a first-class starting point for Mediterranean cruises. The central location allows for a convenient arrival and connects maritime flair directly with the charming atmosphere of the old town.

Airplane

Cagliari-Elmas International Airport (CAG) is located only about 7 kilometers from the cruise terminal and is regularly served by direct flights or via Rome from the DACH region. The trip to the port takes around 15 minutes by taxi, and a regional train also runs every 20 minutes, connecting the airport directly to the nearby main train station in just 6 minutes.

Car & Ferry

Travelers with their own car reach Cagliari via the well-developed SS131 expressway and often use the ferry connections from Civitavecchia or Livorno directly to the south of the island. A guarded long-term parking lot for cruise guests is available directly at Molo Rinascita, and the terminal grounds are easily accessible thanks to clear signage.

Train & Pre-Cruise Hotel

Cagliari Centrale main station is located in the immediate vicinity of the harbor entrance at Piazza Matteotti and is an ideal hub for guests arriving by train within Sardinia. Since the terminal at Molo Rinascita is located in a secured port area, a free shuttle bus takes passengers comfortably from the port exit to the ship. Due to the proximity to the picturesque Castello old town, an arrival on the previous day is recommended for a relaxed start to the holiday.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that your travel documents usually include a fixed time slot for check-in, which is mandatory for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for your journey to the port accordingly and keep in mind that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.

The same applies during the journey: for shore excursions, you should be back on board at least one hour before departure. Always pay attention to the current announcements and notices on board, as mooring and departure times can change at short notice.
