Ships dock at Turistikos Liminas (Tourist Port), which is located in the immediate vicinity of the historic center. Thanks to the ideal location, guests reach the ancient gates of the city in just a few minutes on foot and also enjoy excellent connections to the rest of the island.
The port of Rhodes impresses with its immediate proximity to the medieval Old Town and can be reached easily thanks to the international airport. Cruise ships usually dock at the central tourist harbor (Emborio) or the Akandia harbor, from where the historical sights can be explored directly on foot.
Airplane
Rhodes International Airport Diagoras (RHO) is located about 15 kilometers southwest of the city and is served by direct flights from numerous airports in the DACH region such as Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, or Zurich during the cruise season. The journey to the terminal takes about 20 to 30 minutes by taxi or private transfer and follows the coastal road or the national road EO95 directly to the port area.
Transfer & Parking
From the airport, you can comfortably reach the Emborio or Akandia terminals by taxi at fixed rates or via the organized shuttle services of the cruise lines. For travelers with a rental car or their own vehicle, generous parking areas are available at the port of Akandia; additionally, the central bus station at Rimini Square offers regular connections to the airport and the surrounding coastal towns.
Pre-Cruise Hotel
Due to its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is recommended to arrive a day before embarkation to explore the medieval city at your leisure. Numerous charming hotels are located directly within the city walls or at the nearby Mandraki harbor, allowing for a short path to the ship on the day of departure, as the terminal can often be reached in just 10 to 15 minutes on foot.
Check-in & Embarkation
Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and consider that the latest embarkation time—depending on the cruise line and destination—is generally scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
