Port information & tips for Fiskardo (Kefalonia)

Fiskardo is located at the northern tip of Kefalonia and is considered the picturesque jewel of the Ionian Islands. The former fishing village impresses with its sheltered location and exclusive flair, preserving a unique historical charm thanks to its original Venetian architecture. Cultural highlights in the immediate vicinity include the Venetian lighthouse, the ruins of the Early Christian Basilica, and the ancient Roman cemetery. As Fiskardo is a small natural harbor, larger ships anchor in the bay and use tender boats to reach the central quay of Fiskardo harbor, while smaller ships dock directly at the pier. Thanks to this prime location, visitors have immediate access to the lively center with its elegant boutiques and first-class taverns.

Fiskardo, an idyllic fishing village on Kefalonia, often serves as a starting point for smaller cruises and yacht charters and is primarily accessible via the island's airport. The harbor area is easy to navigate, without large terminal buildings, and blends picturesquely into the village landscape.

Airplane

Travel to Kefalonia is usually via Kefalonia International Airport (EFL), also known as Anna Pollatou Airport, which is the only airport on the island. It is located approximately 55 to 60 kilometers south of Fiskardo. Numerous charter and scheduled flights, especially during the season, connect the airport with German cities such as Frankfurt, Munich, or Düsseldorf, often with a stopover in Athens.

Transfer & Shuttle

Various transfer options are available from Kefalonia Airport to Fiskardo. A taxi ride takes about 1.5 hours and costs between 70 and 90 euros, depending on the provider and season. Alternatively, you can book a rental car directly at the airport to flexibly explore the island and drive to Fiskardo yourself. Some smaller cruise lines also organize shuttle services for their guests, so it is recommended to inquire with the tour operator in advance.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to international flight connections and sometimes long transfer times, it is recommended to spend at least one night on Kefalonia before embarkation. There are numerous hotels in both Argostoli, the island's capital, and in towns closer to the airport such as Svoronata or Lassi. For an even more relaxed arrival, you can also book a charming boutique hotel or a guesthouse directly in Fiskardo and enjoy the picturesque atmosphere before the start of your cruise.

Check-in & Embarkation

Please note that you will usually receive a fixed time slot for check-in with your travel documents, which is binding for your embarkation. Plan sufficient time for the journey to the port accordingly and take into account that the latest embarkation time - depending on the cruise line and destination - is usually scheduled about one hour before the planned departure.
