The facility is located about four kilometers south of the historic city center and offers a contemporary infrastructure for a smooth embarkation.

Car

Arriving by private car is convenient via the Croatian A1 motorway, which connects Zadar directly to the European long-distance road network toward Austria and Germany. At the Gaženica terminal, spacious long-term parking spaces are available directly at the pier; furthermore, well-developed feeder roads from the Zadar-centar or Zadar-istok exits lead straight to the port without detours.

Airplane

Zadar Airport (ZAD) is located only twelve kilometers from the cruise terminal and is served by direct flights from numerous cities such as Berlin, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, or Vienna during the season. From the arrival hall, you can reach the ship in about 15 minutes by taxi or use the regular shuttle bus service connecting the airport with the port.

Pre-Cruise Hotel

Due to the picturesque Old Town and the location of the port, an overnight stay in Zadar is recommended to experience the world-famous Sea Organ and the Greeting to the Sun before departure. The historic Old Town peninsula of Zadar is easily reachable from the Gaženica cruise port in about fifteen minutes by shuttle or taxi and offers a fascinating sound experience directly on the waterfront promenade with its world-unique Sea Organ. This location is perfect for a relaxed tour and also inspires with the artistic light installation "Greeting to the Sun" as well as its close proximity to cozy cafes and the Roman ruins of the Forum. Returning to the ship

The way back to the modern Gaženica terminal or to the pier directly at the old town is very comfortable and safe thanks to the clear organization. For the journey to the Gaženica port, located slightly outside the city, plan for about 15 minutes of travel time to be on board well before departure.

Shuttle Buses and Public Transport

The cruise lines usually provide their own shuttle buses, which pick you up conveniently at the central Liburnska Obala in the old town and take you directly to the ship. In addition, the city bus line 9 connects the main station (Autobusni kolodvor) with the Gaženica port at high frequencies and offers an inexpensive and reliable option for the return journey.

Taxi and Ride Services

Central taxi ranks are located directly at the city wall near the pedestrian bridge as well as at the bus station and ensure a quick return to the cruise terminal. The drivers know the departure points of the ships exactly and will take you quickly and directly to the security area of the port thanks to the well-developed road connections.

On Foot

If your ship is docked directly at the Istarska Obala at the tip of the peninsula, simply walk along the waterfront promenade past the Sea Organ directly back to the gangway. For a berth in the Gaženica port, the walk from the city is quite long, which is why using buses or taxis is ideal for a relaxed conclusion to your shore excursion.
